Christina Haack was conceived in Anaheim, California. Her first job post-school was as a real estate agent. Tarek El-Moussa, her future husband, was also in the sector. After the 2008 crash of the stock market, many investors in real estate and those who were house flippers lost their money. Due to the market crash, Tarek and Christina El Moussa were close to losing all their assets. The cost of their apartment was $700 per week, compared to the $6,000 they had been spending per month on their home. Both their business and economy in general slowly recovered. HGTV as well as Rise to Fame Tarek enlisted the help of a friend to make the audition tapes for HGTV featuring Christina reflipping properties starting from scratch. Pie Town Productions, a production company in New York City, received the audition tape. The executives fell in love of Tarek, Christina and their stories. They reached a deal with HGTV. In April of 2013, "Flip of Flop" began its debut. In the seven seasons that ran from 2013 and 2017 the show broadcast 92 episode. On the show, Christina and Tarek would purchase properties, usually middle-income houses in Orange County, and would then proceed to spend several weeks making upgrades so they could sell the house in order to earn profit. Tarek concentrates more on remodeling and demolition while Christina is the one in charge of designing. The two also make sure that everything is in order.
